A very 1920’s Matahari style to this act, so of course black & white is the order of the day. A great pose provides perfect lead in lines and I removed most of the background to suggest a simple spotlight on the figure. Shot without flash @ ISO3200. This shot taken at the Double R club, London, May 2010 - Lots more shots can be found in the Flickr Set

Amazingingly perfect makeup here - and the eyes are untouched, that’s the colour they were. The whole outfit was a superb take on the old witch finder look. Outfit of the event for me. More shots in the Flickr Set

A riot of colour and detail here - the purples and magentas really stood out. Check out the other shots for the dress that was just as colourful. More shots in the Flickr Set

Steampunk is of course everywhere now - including Belgium. Great detail on this face mask (it was a masked ball) - clearly hand made to fit. More shots in the Flickr Set

Masses of drama here in black & white with the detail on both costumes contrasting well. The expressions finish it off nicely. More shots in the Flickr Set

This mask reminds me of the seven veils or similar. After a few attempts, I got this shot at f1.4 right on the eye for a bit of atmosphere. More shots in the Flickr Set

Pim (I think that’s the spelling!) and one of the models from the event - amazing makeup. Pim is a tog and brought along some huge old polaroid cameras. More shots in the Flickr Set

This outfit put me in mind of the cenobites from Hellraiser for some reason - look elsewhere for a longer shot to see why. More shots in the Flickr Set

A soft mauve mad hatter - a world away from Tim Burton’s version. Perfectly co-ordinated. More shots in the Flickr Set

An attempt at a partial desauration. The green and red seem to work well together. More shots in the Flickr Set
